The Effectiveness of Case Management Methodology in Improving the Quality of Life of Separated Children Victims of the War in the Gaza Strip 2023

Abstract

This study sought to evaluate the effectiveness of the case management methodology in enhancing the quality of life of separated children affected by the war on the Gaza Strip. As an evaluative study, it adopted the social survey approach and relied on two research instruments developed by the researcher. The first was the Quality of Life Scale for Separated Children, administered to a random sample of 166 children drawn from the Ma’an Development Center, the Tamer Institute for Community Education, and the International Rescue Committee. The second was a Case Managers’ Scale administered to 59 case managers from the same institutions, all of whom were selected using the comprehensive enumeration method. The most important findings of the study: The findings indicated that the effectiveness of the case management methodology in improving the quality of life of separated children affected by the war on the Gaza Strip, as perceived by the children themselves, was high across all dimensions of quality of life. Social quality of life ranked highest at 91.50%, followed by psychological quality of life at 90.06%, educational quality of life at 85.11%, health-related quality of life at 80.32%, and financial quality of life at 77.78  The most important recommendations of the study: In light of the study findings, several recommendations were advanced. Foremost among them was the development of a standardized procedural framework to guide case managers in their work with separated children. Such a framework should encompass assessment procedures, intervention planning, referral mechanisms, follow-up processes, and evaluation protocols.
