Introducing Culture in Arabic Language Classes for Non-Native Speakers
Abstract
This study aims to examine the presentation of Arabic culture in Arabic language classrooms as a second language, using modern and specific strategies based on a balance between theory and practice. The study addressed culture, its definition, importance, the purpose of teaching it, and its close relationship to teaching Arabic as a second language. The strength of this relationship is reflected in the fact that culture is a vibrant element that seamlessly brings the learning process closer to acquisition.
The study then addressed the latest cultural teaching strategies and detailed how to apply them in classrooms. The study concluded with the importance of addressing culture in Arabic language classes for non-native speakers, and
It is essential for teachers to be familiar with the multiple cultural intersections and differences, as they have a profound impact on raising the learner's communicative and intellectual competence. It is also essential for teachers to be well-versed in the various teaching skills that go beyond the confines of language to encompass its social and cultural aspects.
