The Repercussions of The Digital Environment and Its Effects on Journalists Working in The Iraqi Press
(A field study on journalists working in the newspapers Al Zaman, Al Mada, Al Sabah, Al Mashriq,Al Zawra and Al Sabah Al Jadeed)
Abstract
of the advances in communication technology and electronic publishing as well as the spread of social networking sites that allow individuals (users) to use and subscribe to their channels without restriction or condition that limits their freedom to publish. Because of these sites, modern terms have appeared to us, including digital media, alternative media, which have employed the Internet and its various technologies to serve their goals. This study came to pay attention to the phenomenon of the effects of the digital environment and its effects on journalists working in the Iraqi press, aimed at revealing the implications of the digital environment and its effects on the work of Iraqi journalists, the study relied on the survey method, and to achieve the goals of the study, an intentional sample of (94) respondents was chosen by (63) Journalist and (31) female journalist (Al-Zaman, Al-Mada, Al- Sabah, Mashreq, Al-Zawraa and Al-Sabah Al-Jadid). For the purpose of arriving at the facts that the research aims to know, I designed a form that includes several axes. The accuracy of the scale was confirmed by apparent honesty by presenting the form to professors specialized in the media. The consistency of the research form was measured using the Alvacronbach equation. The results showed that the percentage of journalists benefiting from the Internet in their journalistic work increased because digital applications became the backbone of media institutions in general, and journalists in particular in completing journalistic work for media institutions, and that there is a significant contribution of digital media in developing traditional media by a percentage of (90.4%). This percentage is very large, and this is what called for many traditional newspapers to create their own websites to publish the contents.
